Skirted Coverlet

Design phase of this little girl's bedding.... a skirted coverlet will be a new one for me, and a fairly simple sewing project....

The plum damask print will be on the top of the bed and the periwinkle velvet will be the skirt... then there's a gorgeous chenille trim that will marry the two together.
Yes, it's spread out on my dining room floor.... can you see the richness of these two fabrics coming together?
And here's a close up of the trim - and the reverse of the trim (snake-skin printed chenille, who'd thought?)

Modern Baby's Room

Here's some really striking drapes for a baby girl's room.  The tops are made out of Target shower curtains and the bottom magenta part is a twin sheet (also from Target).
Okay, yes.  If you're detail-oriented like me, you will look very very closely and see that the two drapes are different lengths.  Now, here's my disclaimer - the curtain rod was hung 3/4" lower on the right side.  This might get corrected at some point, but when a baby is due in 2 weeks - drapes touching or not touching the floor isn't that essential!  She just needs the crib to arrive!  I'll update the picture possibly, when the entire room is completed.  She's picked out some awesome modern baby furniture.  Great central Austin style this momma has.

I used hidden tabs and I like how clean they look at the top.  I will definitely use hidden tabs again!

Nothing says baby's room more than ball (pom-pom) fringe.
See Mom:  no daylight!  Blackout liner is perfect for a baby's room.  And it does certainly block it out!
